Apache

Apache is the most commonly used web server on the Internet.  It is well tested and documented, and is very rich in features.  IBM was sufficiently impressed to adopt Apache as the native web server in the WebSphere product line, replacing their Lotus Go web server.

Apache is an Open Source HTTP server implemented in ANSI C which is available in source and pre-compiled binary forms for nearly every conceivable platform (including OS/390).  My recommendation is to compile the latest version of the source, as this ensures compatibility with the server OS patch-level.
